Here in South Africa we rarely (if ever) eat out. It is too dangerous. The risk is just too high to either get robbed in the restaurant or get shot for your car on your way home. Here Ross orders prawns. In the episode where he has dinner with Rachel's dad, it is mentioned that he is allergic to lobster. I don't know, I just think people who are allergic to lobster are also allergic to prawns and vice versa, what with them both being crustaceans.

In Spain it would be the total opposite. If you are celebrating that you got promoted, you pay. If it is your birthday and you take friends out for dinner, you pay. This is like expecting your guests to split the cost of your wedding. It is your celebration, so you are responsible for the bill.
